CLASSES & EVENT INFORMATION

All classes require pre-registration - Register online, call 515-573-2316,

or stop by Wed-Sat, 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Youth Classes: Enrolling in Classes

Please register your child in the appropriate class listed for their age and grade level in school.

 

Youth Classes: Clothing

Children should come dressed to be messy. One idea would be to give your child an old adult shirt to wear, with the sleeves and bottom edge cut short.

 

Youth Classes: Snack

Fruit juice individual carton drinks and individual small serving cracker or cookie packets are offered once during each class session.

 

Adult & Youth Classes: Class Cancellation Policy

If it is necessary to cancel a class the museum will call or email each registered participant. If the registration was paid in cash, the cash will be refunded. If paid with check, the check will be returned. Please remember to include your phone number when you register for a class. All classes generally must have a minimum of six paid registrations in order to go forward.

Adult & Youth Classes: Artwork Policy

Due to limited classroom space, works must be picked up no later than one week after the class, unless otherwise noted. Works that are not picked up will be discarded.

  • Virtual Collage Self Portrait

  • Virtual Blanden Art Festival Art Kit

    Starting May 18 through June 10, registered online and stop in and pick up a virtual art activity kit. Kits are designed for ages 4-12. Each kit will include: A small wind chime that can be designed and decorated. A watercolor paint set with brush A marker set Color Pencils A drawing pad

  • Adult Outdoor Class - Ceramic Containers

    In person outdoor art class for High school aged students and older. Conducted on the grounds of the Blanden. Students will work with wet clay and create unique ceramic containers inspired by Betty Woodman. This three-day class meets over the month of June.

    In person outdoor class for High school aged students and older. Conducted on the grounds of the Blanden. Inspired by the work by Dawn Mak (McManus), students will create charcoal drawings. Learning about the media, unique tools for blending, details and the process of drawing nature.
