Saturday Mornings at the Blanden
This year “Saturday Morning at the Blanden” is organized in sets of two classes per month, with both classes included in one monthly fee. This will allow for projects that require a two-step process. For example, the drying of materials such as paper mache’, plaster, heavy paint, or the firing of clay. Saturday classes are organized, planned and taught by the museum educator or a guest instructor. Projects for children include a variety of art experiences designed around works currently on display in the galleries, the work of other well-known artists, and the opportunity to experiment with less familiar materials for the practice and development of artistic skills. The visual arts give children the opportunity to experiment, and create each project as a personal, individual expression. Space is limited, so please sign up well in advance. Class fees are due at the time of registration, by cash or personal check.
Note: Please enroll your child in the session listed for their grade level in school. All classes are limited to 10 participants, and children should come dressed to be messy. Classes are two hours long and include all materials and a snack. Scholarships are available.

Saturday Drawing & Design Series – Ages 9 and older
February & March
Drawing is fundamental to every art form. Drawing and design skills are useful for all kinds of projects, from illustrating a story for a school assignment, working out ideas for painting a picture, or designing something
to make from another kind of material. We will explore contour drawing, shading and value, creating the illusion of texture, using pattern, and look at a few ways to create the illusion of depth.
These classes are designed for children age 9 and older. The class fee includes all materials and a snack. Each class will be a self-contained lesson, but students may wish to sign up for more than one session in order to build their skills.
