Museum volunteers
by Pamela Kay

What is the definition of a volunteer?

* A person who enters or offers to enter into any service of his or her own free will
*Serving as a volunteer, usually without compensation

The museum has several volunteers who volunteer their time at different places in the Fort Dodge community. It should be noted that we also have three volunteers who are also docents (Blanden Museum Tour Guides).

Blanden volunteers are always willing to assist with any task we need help with: from working swing shifts at our 75th Anniversary Celebration held on June 9th to stuffing envelopes, assisting with kid's art classes, baking goodies for special events, setting up opening receptions, answering the phone, or just talking with visitors and providing them with information about the history of the Blanden and the city of Fort Dodge.

We all enjoy working with our volunteers and docents who are very kind, understanding and considerate to the staff and museum visitors. The Blanden is very fortunate to have such a fine group of volunteers and docents.

Thank you Blanden volunteers and docents for all you do!!! You're the Greatest!!!

"The Blanden Museum is not for just once select group. People of all ages can benefit from it. Classes and exhibits offered for children as well as adults." Rita Ivory, Volunteer
